PoolBoss has a REST API and webhooks on every plan, Free included. An admin creates a company API key in Settings, and your other tools read customers, pools, visits with their chemical readings, and invoices, or add new customers. Webhooks send a signed message to your own HTTPS address the moment a visit is completed or an invoice is paid.

The API is for the tools you already run next to PoolBoss. Pull invoices and visits into a spreadsheet or a BI dashboard and slice the numbers your way. Point a no-code automation tool at a webhook, so a paid invoice or a finished visit kicks off the next step on its own. Or have whoever does your tech work write a short script: a CRM that picks up new customers, or a nightly job that copies the day's visits somewhere else.
For QuickBooks Online you don't need the API at all. PoolBoss sends invoices and payments to QuickBooks by itself.

An admin creates API keys in Settings, under Integrations. Give each key a name, like the tool it's for, and choose read-only or read-write. PoolBoss shows the full key once, so you copy it straight into the tool that needs it.
The key list shows when each key was last used, so one nobody recognizes stands out. Revoke a key with one click and it stops working on its very next request. Keys belong to the company, not to the person who made them, so an integration keeps running when your office staff changes. Every key reads only your own company's data.

What the REST API reads and writes
The API lives at /api/v1/ and covers your company, customers and pools, visits with the chemical readings logged on them, and invoices with their line items. Lists come back newest first, in pages of up to 100 with a cursor for the next page, so a tool can pick up anything new since its last run.
You can look up a customer by email, list a customer's pools or invoices, and filter visits and invoices by status. A read-write key can also create a customer, with your own reference ID from the other system attached. Each key can make 120 requests a minute.

Webhooks for completed visits and paid invoices
A webhook is PoolBoss calling your tool, so your tool doesn't have to keep asking. In the same Integrations settings, an admin adds an HTTPS address and picks the events it should get: a visit is completed, an invoice is paid. Each message carries the visit with its readings, or the invoice with its lines, in the same shape the API returns.
Every message is signed with a secret that's shown to you once, so your receiver can check it came from PoolBoss and wasn't replayed. If your endpoint is down, PoolBoss tries again on a schedule for about 24 hours. Each endpoint has a delivery log with the response your tool gave, and a Redeliver button to send any message again.

Common questions
Does PoolBoss have an API?
Yes. PoolBoss has a versioned REST API at /api/v1/ and webhooks, on every plan including Free. An admin creates a company API key in Settings › Integrations, read-only or read-write, and your tool sends it as a bearer token. The API reads your company, customers, pools, visits with their chemical readings, and invoices with their line items, and a read-write key can create customers.
What data can I get from the PoolBoss API?

Each visit comes with the chemical readings logged on it, including LSI, and each invoice comes with its line items, totals, tax, due date, and paid date. Lists are paged, newest first, and you can look up a customer by email, list a customer's pools or invoices, and filter visits and invoices by status. Every key reads only your own company's data.
What webhooks does PoolBoss send?
PoolBoss sends a webhook when a visit is completed and when an invoice is paid. You choose which of the two each endpoint gets. The message carries the visit with its readings, or the invoice with its line items, in the same shape the API returns, so a tool can act on it without a second call.
How do I know a webhook really came from PoolBoss?
Every message has a PoolBoss-Signature header: a timestamp and an HMAC-SHA256 signature of the timestamp and body, made with your endpoint's signing secret. It's the same pattern Stripe uses, so most developers already know how to check it. Check the signature, reject anything older than five minutes, and use the event ID to skip a message you've already handled.
What happens if my webhook endpoint is down?
PoolBoss tries again on a schedule, starting a minute later and spreading nine attempts over about 24 hours. Each endpoint's delivery log shows every message with the response your tool gave, and a Redeliver button sends any of them again once your endpoint is back.
Can I connect PoolBoss to a no-code automation tool?
Yes. Any automation tool that can receive a webhook can start a workflow when a visit is completed or an invoice is paid, and any tool that can call a REST API with a bearer key can read your PoolBoss records or add a customer. Create a key or an endpoint in Settings › Integrations and paste it into the tool.
